I keep everything running smoothly so that staff on the front line can focus on what really matters – the young people that we help. I love hearing the positive news stories about all the young people we help; it brightens my day.

I have been working with children, young people and adults who are vulnerable and have complex need for over 10 years, in various dynamic environments such as in the community and custody. I have worked in supporting young people and adults’ offenders involved in organised crime activities. I have also worked with individuals with highly chaotic lifestyles, where they have complex needs: for example, homelessness, mental health, and substances misuses.

I advise and guide the service users in terms of life choices, securing accommodation, as well as (education, training and employment) opportunities, I work with individuals to help them overcome any issues they are experiencing and make the right decisions in life, as well as empowering them to voice their opinion and views in a positive form.

My Name is Naim Iqbal and I have been working with Change Grow Live as an Employability Case Manager since September 2019. Before this I worked for St Basils as a Learning Skills and Work Officer. This involved working with service users. My job role involved working with young people to help them look at opportunities which best meet their needs and supporting young people to move forward in a positive way.

Since starting with Change Grow Live, I have been working with young people aged 16 to 29 in partnership with colleagues from Change Grow Live, personal advisors and social workers. We provide support to young people in all areas of employment, training and education, as well as help with travel, clothing, uniform, and grants. For example, we work in partnership with Birmingham Children’s Trust as well as training providers, the employment action team, colleagues and other providers.

My name is Victoria and I have been working to support young people for over 10 years now (I know, I don't look old enough). My career has helped me support young people to achieve their potential and most importantly, believe in themselves. I love what I do and pride myself on helping others to achieve their goals. I love to shop, you'll never see me in the same outfit twice or the same hairstyle, as I used to teach hairdressing to young people too!

Khayra

My name is Khayra, I am an Employability Case Manager currently working with the Care Leavers East. The role is engaging, and no two days are the same. I support vulnerable people with employment, education, and training as well as other areas such as housing, benefits, financial, mental health and so forth. Prior to applying for this role, I was mentoring high-risk offenders with Change Grow Live by offering support and guidance in similar areas, which heightened my interest in applying for the current role that I am in. I will also be joining the Youth Offending Team soon and gaining some additional experience which I am looking forward to.

My name is Chanel, I have recently completed a Master's in Forensic Psychology. I am an Employability Case Manager currently working with the Care Leavers team. Previous to this role I worked for a charity called the Safer Living Foundation. This role involved supporting adults and young people in prison or a community setting with areas such as employability and mental health support. I have also worked as a support worker and as a volunteer counsellor in the community. From my volunteer roles, I have found I love helping people reach their full potential and having an overall positive impact on someone else’s life. I hope to continue to help and support people to grow in my new role.

Bethel

My name is Bethel, I am a Criminology graduate, and I have recently begun my role as a Youth Offenders Case Worker. Prior to this role, I volunteered with SOVA as a youth-offenders mentor where I helped a young person in Swinfen Hall prepare for rehabilitation upon release. I also worked as an offender’s support worker at Trident Reach during my second year of university where I helped adult offenders manoeuvre life, education, and employment after prison. In my new role I hope to be a safe space for young people who have been discouraged by society, by reminding them they are capable of anything despite where they’ve come from, or despite their current circumstances.
